Get to Know Your Chakra System

If I bet you have heard the word “Chakra” a lot lately. With yoga and living holistically becoming more main stream, it is hard not to wonder, what does the word mean? 

The word Chakra translates to “wheel” in ancient Sanskrit. Essentially Chakras are centers inside the body that allow for energetic circulation. 

When these centers are blocked young experience imbalance in your life.

Although there are many Chakras thought the body we will focus on the 7 main ones today. 

Root Chakra:

Location: The base of the spinal chord, Perineum, Coccyxgeal Point

Element: Earth

Color: Red 

Attributes: Security, Shelter, Food, Basic needs, Family, Ancestors

Developing Years: Age 1-7

Crystal: Carnelian, Bloodstone, Black Tourmaline 

Sacral Chakra: 

Location: Pelvis, near pubic bone 

Element: Water

Color: Orange

Attributes: Birth of human form, Instinct, Pleasure, Emotions, Creation. 

Developing Years : Age 7-14 

Crystals: Amber, Orange Calcite. Tigers Eye 

Solar Plexus Chakra: 

Location: Navel 

Element: Fire 

Color: Yellow 

Attributes: Transmitation of energy from lower Chakras to higher Chakras, will power, ego 

Developing Years: Age 14-21

Crystal: Pyrite, Citrine, Yellow Tourmaline 

Heart Chakra: 

Location: Heart 

Element: Air 

Color: Green 

Attributes: Transmutes emotions to intense devotion, Seat of consciousness, Unconditional  love, Understanding, Acceptance 

Developing Years: Age 21-28

Crystal: Jade, Rose Quartz, Malachite, Peridot 

Throat Chakra: 

Location: Neck

Element: Ether 

Color: Indigo

Attributes: Purification, Creative expression, Communication

Developing Years: Age 35 

Crystal: Lapiz Lazuli, Diamond, Blue Kyanite, Turquoise 

Third Eye Chakra: 

Location: Forehead, Pineal Gland

Element : Mind 

Color: Blue 

Attributes: Self authority, Insight, Intuition, Super sensory perception, Higher voice, Supernormal powers 

Developing Years: Age 42 

Crystal: amythest, Flourite, Moldavite, Black Obsidian

Crown Chakra: 

Location: Head 

Element: Supreme

Color: Violet 

Attributes: Unified consciousnesses, Infinte power, Expanded Consciousness, Spiritual journey 

Developing Years: Age 49 

Crystals: Amethyst, Selenite, Clear Quartz
